2004 News Releases "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE" MOSAID Releases Latest Test Control Software New Software Leverages .NET Technology from Microsoft® OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada – November 16, 2004 - MOSAID Technologies Incorporated's Systems Division (TSX:MSD) today announced the availability of the latest Test Control Software (TCS) 7.0 for its MS4205 family of memory test systems. TCS operates within MOSAID's MS4205 and MS4205ex test systems, which test semiconductor memories with data rates of up to 832 Mbps per pin. TCS 7.0 leverages Microsoft .NET technology, providing MOSAID customers with the latest and most flexible software extension capabilities. Also new in TCS 7.0 is the first release of MOSAID's new MAPEDIT (map-edit) utility. MAPEDIT greatly simplifies the critical task of defining the transform equations that describe the relationship between electrical memory addresses and the physical location of the memory cells. These equations are often referred to as the "address scramble equations" and are unique to every memory chip design. "Properly relating the physical addresses of memory locations to their electrical addresses is fundamental to the proper testing of memories," says G. Glenn Evans, General Manager of MOSAID Systems. "But with today's large and topographically complex devices, coming up with those scramble equations can be a complex mathematical problem. MAPEDIT provides a graphical scramble definition tool that can cut the effort of producing scramble equations by a factor of ten or more in most cases." MOSAID's MS4205 engineering testers help manufacturers minimize time to market and maximize the yield of their semiconductor products, including high-speed DRAM and Flash memories. MOSAID's customers include the largest semiconductor manufacturers and foundries around the globe. The MS4205 and TCS 7.0 will be demonstrated at SEMICON® Japan 2004 in Tokyo, Japan, December 1-3, 2004, at the booth of MOSAID's Japanese distributor, Kanematsu Semiconductor Corporation. About MOSAID Founded in 1975, MOSAID is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with offices in Santa Clara, California; Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K; and Tokyo, Japan.
