MOSAID Announces Board Appointments

New Chairman, Director appointed

OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada – January 10, 2002 – MOSAID Technologies Incorporated (TSE: MSD) announced today that Dr. Richard C. Foss has retired from the Company's Board of Directors. Dr. Foss announced his intention to retire from the Board at MOSAID's annual general meeting on September 13, 2001.

"Dick's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology has played a key role in the growth and success of our Company," said George Cwynar, President and Chief Executive Officer of MOSAID. "Dick's reputation as an innovator is well known throughout the semiconductor industry and many of the patents we now license through our Intellectual Property Division bear his name. We look forward to Dick's continued involvement as a consultant to our Company."

Dr. Foss will be succeeded as Chairman of the Board by Thomas I. Csathy, who has been a director and consultant to MOSAID since July 1991 and Vice Chairman of the Board since June 1992. Mr. Csathy is President of T.I. Csathy Associates Inc., a general management consulting firm. Prior to this position, Mr. Csathy was President of Cognos Inc., President of Burroughs Canada, and also had a 20-year career with IBM Canada in systems engineering, sales and finance. He holds a M.Sc. in civil engineering from Queens University and a B.Sc. in civil engineering from Glasgow University. Mr. Csathy presently serves on the boards of several companies. He is Chairman of Branham Group Inc., Chairman of Coast Software Inc. and is a Director of Med-Eng Systems Inc.

MOSAID also announced that Richard D. Boadway, Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer, has been appointed to the Board of Directors. Mr. Boadway joined MOSAID in January 1997 as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Finance and Administration. Prior to MOSAID, he was President of the Canadian subsidiary of Dataware Technologies Inc., a U.S.-based software company. Mr. Boadway's career spans 25 years in finance and management positions with engineering, technology and financial companies. He holds a MBA and a B.Sc. in civil engineering, both from Queen's University.

"Tom has served our Board and shareholders well for 10 years. Tom's extensive experience at both the management and board level with several high technology companies provide a strong foundation for him in his new role as Chairman of MOSAID," said Mr. Cwynar. "Richard's broad-based background, combined with the solid relationships he has built within the technology and investment communities, will further strengthen our Board."
