MOSAID Technologies Inc. has an immediate requirement for an experienced and self-motivated professional to fill the 12 month contract position of IC CAD Technologies Specialist.

Job Purpose and Mandate:

The IC CAD Technologies Specialist is responsible for working closely with the Research & Development team to develop and provide timely and effective Integrated Circuit (IC) design related services and technologies for the IC design community. The services include maintenance, administration and evolution of the CAD software. The technologies include producing circuit building blocks as well as developing and using tools and methodologies which accelerate the IC design process. The IC CAD Technologist Specialist also works on projects of a large scope and complexity and maintains a strong role in shaping all IC and software design methodologies. This position will be working closely with flash memory process, device, design and layout engineers to implement best-in-class Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and solutions to increase productivity and quality during the design.

Duties:

• Participating in the evaluation, installation, integration, development, enhancement and implementation of relevant CAD tools and related software packages
• Writing CAD tool customization scripts, large and complex software programs and UNIX shell utilities to improve operational and user productivity.
• Validating the functionality and performance of MOSAID's CAD tools, related software and utilities for general use.
• Designing new user interfaces for the CAD environment.
• Working on and developing methodologies for improving efficiency in IC design procedures and methodologies.
• Working as a member of various IC design project teams as required.
• Maintaining a forward looking view of the integrated hardware and CAD.
• Identifying, qualifying and implementing improvements to the CAD environment.
• Monitoring and bringing forward potential hardware, software and networking performance issues and solutions in a proactive manner.
• Communicating with external suppliers/subcontractors regarding technical issues for internal project requirements.
• Acting as the primary contact for CAD software vendor relations and support.

Job Requirements:

• Requires a college or university degree in computer science, engineering (or equivalent) and 5-8 years working experience in a related field or 4 years of experience
• A solid understanding of IC verification tools and related CAD methodologies
• In-depth knowledge of front-to-back design flows with expertise in analog, digital and mixed signal solutions
• Familiarity with Cadence DFII* environment such as schematic composer, Virtuoso* layout editor, and Cadence SKILL language
• Industry experience with Synopsys tools such as Hspice, HSIM, Hercules , Star-RCXT, and Mentor Calibre DRC/LVS
• Fluency in Unix-shell, C shell*, Perl and Skill* programming
• Strong LINUX/UNIX knowledge and familiarity
• Ability to work with design engineers to develop quick engineering solutions for complex problems
• Collateral and runset development expertise would be an added advantage (DRC, LVS, Extraction)

• Experience with various Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software, flows and architecture
